Install
kryon-installer-tui — text
The way the one proven install was done.
sudo kryon-installer-tui
16 sections, no curses, same params file and same installer as the graphical front end.
kryon-installer — graphical (GTK3)
The wizard; it needs a running display.
sudo kryon-installer
10 pages. It never touches a disk — the answers go to /tmp/kryon-params.json and kryon-install (bash) does the work.
Wizard pages
The graphical installer is a 10-page GTK3 dialog:
- Welcome to Kryon OS — device check, then restart.
- What you need — requirements reminder.
- Storage — disk, filesystem type, btrfs compression, separate
/home, LUKS + passphrase, swapfile. - Desktop — desktop environment and display manager.
- Location — pick region and time zone, keyboard and locale.
- Time zone — the world-map picker: 442 zones, exact timezone boundaries, UTC-offset colouring.
- Users and passwords — root and regular users, plus shell.
- Packages — extras to install.
- Review — check everything, then install.
- Installation complete — reboot prompt.
Honest status
Path never executed The one real, complete install was done with the TUI front end. The graphical wizard has been built and staged but has never been executed end to end, so the full 10-page flow, LUKS, and non-default settings are unverified.
Destructive
kryon-installrunswipefs --all --forceon the target disk. It refuses zram, loop, RAM and RAID/mapper devices, and needs at least 2048 MiB. The installer runs as root and logs everything to/tmp/kryon-installer.log; on failure it opens anxfce4-terminal.
Booting after install
The proven path is BIOS + MBR + GRUB (i386-pc target). UEFI support exists in the code but has never been tested. Secure Boot is refused unless KRYON_SECUREBOOT=allow overrides it, and that override has never been exercised. The tuned kernel configuration is not applied on the live ISO; the ISO ships Arch's stock linux kernel and trimmed firmware.
